On-Site Meeting Logistics

Meeting Location

The meeting will take place in the West half of the Berkeley Lab site, in buildings 50, 59, 70A, and 91. Please see the conference map below:

Site Access for Participants

If you do not have an active, valid Berkeley Lab employee or affiliate badge, you will need to follow our instructions for accessing the site. All registered on-site participants have been added to the approved guest access list for August 10-11. Be prepared to show government-issued ID such as a driver’s license or passport for verification when entering the Gate or boarding the Shuttle.

Guest Parking

During this historic period of renewal of Berkeley Lab infrastructure, parking on site is limited. Pay per use parking is available at the Lawrence Hall of Science lot for $1.50 per hour. We will run a charter shuttle between the parking lot and the conference site (building 50) continuously between 7:15-8:45 am both mornings, and on Thursday evening 5:00-7:00 pm and Friday evening 5:00-6:15 pm.

Meeting participants who are staying at the Guest House should park in the Guest House parking lot near building 23.

If you have a need for an accommodation related to parking, please reach out to Kristen Granados kgranados@lbl.gov

Guests Enter at Blackberry Gate

Any meeting participants without an employee or affiliate badge arriving by rideshare, personal vehicle, or the Berkeley Lab shuttle should enter at Blackberry Gate on the West side of the Lab site. Our large site has one formal street address, and sometimes GPS systems can land you at a Gate reserved for badged employees and affiliates. Please note that Hearst Avenue meets Highland Place near the Blackberry Gate entrance, which is straight up the hill via Hearst which turns into Cyclotron Road.

Lab Shuttle

Meeting participants may ride the Berkeley Lab Shuttle from downtown Berkeley, Rockridge, etc. Please see this page for more information: https://commute.lbl.gov/service/shuttle-buses/

COVID-19 Controls

Berkeley is currently experiencing low levels of COVID-19 infections. Face coverings are optional, and eating and drinking are permitted in conference spaces. Frequent hand washing is encouraged. Face coverings will be provided at the registration table for those who wish to use them. Hand sanitizer will be available near refreshment stations.
